Sammy told the foals with a swish of her tail that it was time to head back to the cabin and to light up their newly carved pumpkins. All the foals gathered into their groups and began to leave the campfire area, some moving faster than others, clearly spooked by the campfire stories.

Tish and Firefly were trying hard to wake up Somnus. Tish grabbed the mint she had tucked away in her mane once the group figured out it woke Somnus the easiest. Due to the long day and spending time by the fire, the mint had dried out. Regardless, she held it under his nose and was rewarded with a twitch of his ears and a quiet snore. Her tail lashed in annoyance and she muttered under her breath about rehydrating the mint with water. Firefly, upon hearing this, bounced over with the water pail meant to put out the fire. Before any equid could react, she dumped the cold contents over poor Somnus’ head.

Somnus sprang to his hooves, shaking his head aggressively while Firefly spoke of wilting mint and being unable to wake him.

Haunt cut into Firefly’s story,

“We should probably get going so the corn maze monster doesn’t get us…”

Havoc hmphed in the general direction of Haunt, but none could tell if it was directed at him, Firefly or the entire situation.
